This session will showcase tiered strategies/interventions within the academic domain to support the needs of freshman scholars. We will look at Tier I opportunities that address all students, Tier II opportunities that would consist of the utilization of data analysis practices to implement a small group, and lastly Tier III opportunities that would define more immediate responsive interventions.
The LT Counseling Department identified the need to provide an additional safe space in the school for students who are experiencing emotional distress. The purpose of the Wellness Center is to offer students the opportunity to utilize coping skills and strategies to mitigate their symptoms of distress. This will be a safe space to learn new skills, practice them and then return to class. We will utilize evidence based strategies to support the students. We are currently in year 2 of this adventure and will be reviewing the data from the past year. We want to share what we have learned, what has worked well, what needs to be tweaked.
