"Sweet as P.I.E."- Re-entry Support for Elementary Students Transitioning Back into School from Pregnancy/Medical Leave, Incarceration and/or Expulsion/Suspension LIMITED

This session is to provide elementary school counselors with information to help families of pregnant/parenting, incarcerated, and expelled (P.I.E., M. Marsh Simpson Academy) elementary-aged students. We will discuss how to properly address how to conduct a proper re-entry plan using correct forms and procedures.

Students today are exposed to the effects of our rapidly changing climate on a regular basis: hotter summer days, smoke from forest fires, and images of tornadoes and hurricanes on the media. Recent studies show that children are growing more and more concerned about the climate crisis and its effects, leading to greater stress and anxiety about the future. This session will explore "eco-anxiety" and ways school counselors can best support students.
