Important: Nuts and Bolts of Transcript Reviews: What Counselors Need to Know LIMITED
Friday December 20, 2024 10:00am - 10:50am CST
One of the major roles as a counselor in the academic realm is to ensure that your students are on the appropriate academic track to graduate. This session comes as a demand from counselors who need support in this task. We as counselors are to do due diligence to ensure our students are meeting the graduation requirements in a timely manner. This session will review the parts of the transcript including identifying course codes, 4 year academic plans and avoiding duplicate credits. In addition, facilitators will share tools that participants can use on their own. It is with this session that counselors will begin or continue to make it a part of best practice to review transcripts as this will guide school programming, increasing student accountability in their academics and raising graduation rates. We cannot stress enough the urgency of this type of presentation as there are so many questions that come up about transcripts. This is a session to not miss.

Wellness Center LIMITED
Friday December 20, 2024 1:00pm - 1:50pm CST
The LT Counseling Department identified the need to provide an additional safe space in the school for students who are experiencing emotional distress. The purpose of the Wellness Center is to offer students the opportunity to utilize coping skills and strategies to mitigate their symptoms of distress. This will be a safe space to learn new skills, practice them and then return to class. We will utilize evidence based strategies to support the students.
We are currently in year 2 of this adventure and will be reviewing the data from the past year.  We want to share what we have learned, what has worked well, what needs to be tweaked.
